Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter

Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter is one of my favorite book from the Literature for Young Adults. Pollyanna is a young orphaned girl who is supposed to live with her aunt Polly Harrington, the only relative of her. Aunt Polly is so rude to her niece. She sends her servant, Nancy, to fetch Pollyanna from the station and put her in the hot and stuffy attic room. In spite of this, Pollyanna is always very thankful and positive about her situation and trying to teach people around how to play her father`s game, the “Glad Game”, except Aunt Polly, because is not allowed to speak about her father in front of Aunt Polly. Pollyanna continues to spread her happiness to the poor and the homeless and injured and the abandoned around the community. Pollyanna helps Mrs. Snow to find something to be glad about when you are sick in bed, she helped also to cheer up Mr. Pendleton and thought him about the Glad Game. Surprisingly he wants to adopt her but she wants to remain with her aunt.
One day Pollyanna has an accident. She is hit by an automobile on the way home from school. She wakes up, but can’t feel her legs.I was surprised and aunt Polly too, that a lot of people comes to see the girl and to tell her about how Pollyanna`s Glad Game changed their life, and they want to change Pollyanna`s life to be glad for something. Even Mr. Pendleton adopts Jimmy Bean, the girl loses for a while her faith, she can`t be glad if she can`t walk. In the end, Aunt Polly swallows her pride and invites Dr. Chilton to consult the girl. Dr. Chilton knows a doctor who can heal Pollyanna. She was going to the operation and after six months, Pollyanna can walk again.
This book makes people think about how glad they are, even if their life isn`t perfect every time.

I like this book, too.I think this book can be motivational for all of us .Pollyanna is an example of optimism and an inspiration to many never to give up on life. She always tries to find something to be glad about in every situation, and to always do without delay whatever she thinks is right. With her personality, she brings so much gladness .Even if Pollyanna's optimism is put to the test when she loses the use of her legs in an accident she passed this test.
