The fable "The Cat and the King" seems to have a very clear political message. The king being pleased with the cat's intelligence rewards her by giving her permission to scratch his Prime Minister's eyes out. It looks like your every day political sacrifice of the less powerful by the ones in superior positions.

The fable "The Man and the Bird" is one in the series of animals being outsmarted by animals or even people being outsmarted by animals. In the case of people it is rather interesting if we think about the fact that they could simply refuse to admit they were wrong, they being in the position to exert their superiority.
