Matilda needed a hero so that’s what she became when everything around her was small and insignificant. I really think this book should be read by parents being more a lesson for adults then for children but kids will definitely have fun reading it. It is not a sad book because everything ends nicely but it could make you sad because no one deserves to be treated like that by their parents. Parents must protect and love their children and they should always put them first. A child is helpless without their parents’ guidance and nowadays more and more parents ‘have no time’ to spend with their children. You can hear everyone saying that ‘this generation’ is going down but I think they are not to be blamed. If instead of spending time with your kid you buy him or her a tablet it’s no surprise that generation will go down. This situation is not so different from that in the book. Matilda’s parents know nothing about her and they don’t want to know but instead of buying her a tablet they make her watch tv when she just wants to read. Matilda is out of the ordinary and she is so smart that she read Great Expectations at age five and because of all that cleverness she develops superpowers. She is not the child that cries because her parents treat her bad, she is strong and she takes her faith in her own hands. When she doesn’t like how she is treated she embarrasses them and makes fun of the situation. Matilda doesn’t just save herself because of her intelligence she saves Mrs. Honey too and when her parents decide to move to Spain Matilda doesn’t go with them and instead she stays with Mrs. Honey. Matilda is such a beautiful book to read and it makes you laugh even some situations are not so funny and it can make you want to be a parent, a parent who does everything for his child, a parent who won’t make his kid feel worthless. Matilda shows everyone that you can take your life in your own hands even though you are not quite aware of what life means.
