The Wind in the Willows is an example of extreme anthropomorphism and personification (giving human characteristics to animals or inanimate objects). Most of the characters are animals who walk, talk, and behave like humans. They exhibit proper English manners, etiquette and wear clothes. Spite of all this, the adventures, the friendship between the characters, the lessons they learn seem to me like a kind of Huck Finn and Tom S. adventures only with insects and rodents as characters… But above all it is a delight to see Mole, Rat, Badger and Todd's friendship emerging than evolving into a lifetime connection. |
