We’ve seen that this fairy tale is a bit different from others in the way that it has aspects that are not present in all fairy tales such as chapters with representative titles, the presence of scientists he would have consulted the court physicians; but he was afraid they would try experiments upon her, the king who is not that powerful as others for he was a little king with a great throne, like many other kings. I would like to stop a bit and say some things about these so-called scientists. It is proven that their usefulness is not acknowledged as they don’t find a solution for the princess’s INFIRMITY (as they call it). Their apparently solution is either to bury her alive for three years or to study geology and history etc. But first of all she must study geology, and especially the history of extinct races of animals-their natures, their habits, their loves, their hates, their revenges. She must -- Even the names of the scientists are weird now at the head of this college were two very wise Chinese philosophers-by name Hum-Drum, and Kopy Keck […] Hum-Drum was a Materialist and Kopy Keck was a Spiritualist. According to them she doesn’t belong to our world because there isn’t any relation between her and earth. Science is not at all developed I think is even ridiculed. They aren’t able to find a cure for her and moreover the solution they find are not suitable for scientists. The Princess breaks all the rules she even makes some as she doesn’t listen to her father, she doesn’t study geology, she goes to swim whenever she wants, she makes fun of a lot of things, she’s not serious at all, in other words she is not a typical daughter of a king. |

In my opinion, the princess does everything that my dear colleague Adelina mentioned because she comprehends things differently. I will not talk about the idea that she is light-headed, instead I will talk about her point of view. She is always floating, she is always above the others, well, maybe, that has something to do with the fact that she literally sees things differently, always looking at others from above. This is the way I see all of this, we as readers occupy the highest position, we are in their clouds and we have to look down at them, if something happens we can't do nothing, we can only partcipate as observers, on the other hand, the king and the other characters will participate directly in everything that happens (if a war starts, they must prepare for battle...). Now, the position of the princess is somewhere between the reader(s) and the characters, but she is not aware of this, that's why, subconciously she behaves the way she does. |

George McDonald brought an original element in what we call fairy tale, the problem of gravity and of corse many other elements, which i would not point out because Adeline did. Many princesses have been cursed by witches, but here the story is different, the princess is cursed by her aunt, Princess Makemnoit. Than other unusual thing for a fairy tale, is the death of a character in order to save the condition of another. You have to die to be alive, to revive the sense of life. So did the Prince from "The Light Princess ". |
