Some of them are used in Narnia also. In The Hobbit we have:
- trolls (supernatural beings in Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore) - elves (a type of supernatural being in Germanic mythology and folklore) - goblins (a legendary evil or mischievous creature; a grotesquely evil or evil-like phantom, in folklore) - wargs (In Norse mythology, a vargr (often anglicised as warg or varg) is an evil wolf who is used as mount by orcs) - dwarves (a being from Germanic mythology and folklore, are short and stout creatures) - giant spiders - eagles - giants (Greek mythology)
In Narnia I have the feeling of a world record of used mythologic creatures and not only. In The Hobbit there are a few important creatures used exactly to reveal a good or a bad side. Fantastic creatures who populate a fantastic land.
